Incorporating the CMOS Is CMV20000 image, these Spark Series cameras offer full frame resolution of 5120 x 3840 pixels with a dual Camera Link interface capable of supporting multiple data rates in Base, Medium, or Full configurations. Power can be supplied through the Camera Link connectors using a dual-channel-powered frame grabber, or can be provided via the separate 12-pin connector.

The SP-20000M-PMCL (monochrome) and SP-20000C-PMCL (color) leverage CMOSIS' 8-transistor (8T) pixel architecture to implement true correlated double sampling (CDS) for outstanding image quality with the highest degree of pixel uniformity.

An industry-leading 1:50000 parasitic light sensitivity ratio minimizes global shutter leakage for clean images with sharp contrast. Additional in-camera correction routines have been included to provide significant reductions in pattern noise over previous generations of CMOS cameras.

The combination of speed and resolution makes the SP-20000 ideal for examining flat panel displays, printed circuit boards, and many other applications where detailed inspections are required across a wide area.

In addition, the cameras are well-suited to persistent surveillance, border security, aerial mapping, and other outdoor applications, thanks to such features as automatic level control (ALC) linking shutter and gain for best exposures under changing light conditions, a built-in dual-slope high dynamic range mode for high contrast imaging situations (monochrome models only), and an extended operating range of -45°C to +70°C, enabling the cameras to handle a variety of harsh temperature environments. 

The SP-20000 has user-defined single and multiple region-of-interest (ROI) capabilities providing image capture flexibility with higher frame rates. Monochrome models include horizontal and vertical binning for increased sensitivity. All models support horizontal and vertical mirroring.

The SP-20000M-PMCL and SP-20000C-PMCL accepts standard F-mount lenses. Overall dimensions are 62 x 62 x 84.5 mm (HxWxL).

Over the next few months, JAI plans to release SP-20000 models with dual CoaXPress and USB3 Vision interfaces.

Industrial Cameras India - Spark -5000M-PMCL

Ultra-fast 5-megapixel Spark camera

JAI has introduced the Spark SP-5000M-PMCL and Spark SP-5000C-PMCL, a pair of new 5-megapixel industrial cameras in JAI’s high performance Spark Series. The cameras feature a Mini Camera Link interface and can provide full resolution output at up to 134 frames per second for 8-bit monochrome or raw Bayer images, or 120 frames per second for 10-bit images. 12-bit output is also supported at up to 61 fps. 

Driving this high performance output is a new 2560 x 2048 pixel CMOS imager initially available exclusively from JAI. The SP-5000 cameras take advantage of a mixture of on-chip and in-camera capabilities to deliver a rare combination of ultra-fast output and high image quality. 

For example, the SP-5000’s imager features an auto-scaling front end function that uses the full well capacity even in lower light conditions to more accurately quantize noise and improve dynamic range. On the color model (SP-5000C-PMCL), an on-chip 4-channel analog gain control is provided to allow individual adjustment of R, G1, G2, and B information for better white balancing with reduced noise.

JAI has added in-camera pattern correction algorithms to provide lower noise and better low-light performance than with standard on-chip pattern correction alone. Also included is JAI’s Auto Level Control (ALC) that combines auto gain, auto shutter, and auto iris capabilities in an integrated function to let users optimize their auto exposure control for lowest noise, fastest shutter, or other priorities.

The cameras are equipped with an auxiliary lens control circuit that supports P-iris control, as well as  programmable 3-axis control of  motorized zoom lenses or other analog accessories. 

The dual Mini Camera Link interface can be configured to support different data rate requirements using Base, Medium or Full configurations. Power can also be supplied through the Camera Link connectors using a dual-channel-powered frame grabber, or can be provided via the separate 12-pin connector.

The combination of speed and resolution makes the SP-5000-PMCL cameras ideal for high-speed production line inspection, as well as process monitoring and event capture. ROI and binning capabilities, available for both monochrome and color models, provide added flexibility for utilizing both the high frame rate and pixel resolution of the camera.

Outdoor applications benefit from the cameras’ automatic level control (ALC) capabilities, built-in high dynamic range mode (monochrome), and extended temperature rating enabling the camera to operate in  conditions ranging from -45°C to +70°C. 

The SP-5000-PMCL accepts standard C-mount lenses. Overall dimensions are 62 x 62 x 55.5 mm (HxWxL).

SP-5000 models with CoaXPress, dual GigE Vision, and USB3 Vision interfaces are currently under development and will be introduced seprately in the coming months.

NEW CALIBRATED 3D MACHINE VISION INSPECTION FROM COGNEX

Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX), the world’s leading supplier of machine vision systems, has announced the release of the new DS1000 3D laser profiling system. The system calibrates real-world units of measurement for inspections too difficult to perform with traditional two-dimensional machine vision.


The new DS1000 3D sensor:
  • Reads embossed or raised characters such as those on automobile tires
  • Verifies the presence of low-contrast items in boxes or packages
  • Identifies surface defects and chips with low or no contrast
  • Measures heights and tilts of components to determine misalignment
  • Calculates volumes and dimensions for food portioning.

BitFlow and MVTec announce 64-bit HALCON support

MVTec and BitFlow are proud to announce 64-bit operating system support for BitFlow's frame grabbers under MVTec's HALCON machine vision tools. BitFlow has had 64-bit drivers for it's frame grabbers since summer of 2006 (see below) and MVTEC has had a 64-bit version of HALCON for quite some time. 64-bit operating system support provides a number of advantages for machine vision applications. First and foremost is the ability to use almost unlimited amounts of memory for images. Karbon-CXP2 Two-Link Frame Grabber



BitFlow has a frame grabber model for almost every camera manufactured. Whether your camera is Camera Link, Differential (LVDS or RS422) or even analog, BitFlow can provide the interface. At the high end is the Karbon-CL, which is a quad Base CL frame grabber that can take in up to 160 bits at 85 MHz, and DMA at speeds of up to 2.0 GB/S.


WOBURN, Mass., Oct. 12, 2013 — BitFlow Inc. has introduced the Karbon-CXP2 two-link frame grabber for one two-link camera or up to two single-link cameras in smaller vision systems. 

The device offers video acquisition speeds up to 6 Gb/s and will send control commands and triggers at 20 Mb/s over a single piece of 75-Ω coaxial cable in lengths up to 135 m. A maximum 13 W of power can be transmitted to the camera along the cable. Engineers leveraging the Karbon-CXP2 can repurpose existing coaxial infrastructure to reduce system complexity. 

Cameras can be synchronized or unsynchronized, and a separate I/O is in place for each camera. The system supports serial communications to all cameras.
